My name is Kendra Goode. I am 21 years old. I currently attend Paul D Camp Community College to get my Associate Degree in Nursing, and am currently in my second semester as an ODU online student with the BSN concurrent enrollment program. I will be graduating with my ADN in May 2021, and although I will not be officially graduating from ODU's concurrent enrollment BSN program until the summer 2021 term, I was told that I would also be able to walk for my BSN in May 2021 as well. So that is an exciting time to look forward to! I come from a family with extensive medical background, and I plan to follow in my step mom's footsteps in getting my PHD and becoming a nurse practitioner in the future. I have been a CNA for over a year now working in a nursing home facility and in home healthcare in hopes it will equip me with the experience to become a great RN.

In my free time from school, I enjoy to work and travel. I have had the fortune of traveling to Hati, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, St. Thomas, and Spain just to name a few places. Witnessing some third world countries and the differences in healthcare has sparked a dream within myself to one day become a travel nurse to bring awareness and provide quality healthcare to these places.

My Nursing Philosophy

My Nursing Philosophy

As I embark on my journey to becoming a registered nurse and obtaining my BSN degree, it has become apparent that I must first understand the philosophy behind nursing. Of course, there are many nursing theorists and philosophers out there with great nursing concepts to follow; however, it is important that I myself discover what my own personal philosophy of nursing is. My Educational and Professional Goals

I first became interested in nursing while taking care of my late grandmother who passed away from lung cancer. I wanted to help others' grandparents who may also be experiencing the hardships my family, grandmother, and I faced. I made it a goal of mines to become a CNA, in which I have been passionately working as for the past year. I realized being a CNA was not enough for myself and I wanted to accomplish more. Click the link below to read more about the educational and professional goals I have set for myself to accomplish throughout my nursing journey.
